Woman succumbs to burn injuries

A 32-year-old woman of Mat Sungal village in Palampur subdivision succumbed to her burn injuries at Tanda medical college (TMC) on Tuesday, the police said here.

Subhash, SHO, Panchrukhi, said the victim, identified as Saroj Kumar, wife of Dev Raj, was the mother of two sons.

She was a resident of Mat Sungal village had received 96 per cent burn injuries on September 14, when her clothes caught fire while she and her husband were working in the kitchen.

The SHO said Dev Raj tried to douse the flames and during the attempt he also received burn injuries and was admitted to the TMC.

The SHO said she was rushed to a local hospital where doctors referred her to Tanda medical college.

The body after the postmortem was handed over to her relatives on Wednesday.

The police said the investigation was in progress under Section 174 of the Criminal procedure code.
