Water shortage: HP given more time to file affidavit

SHIMLA: The High Court on Monday granted one more week to the Chief Secretary for filing his affidavit explaining therein that what steps had been taken by the state government/Municipal Corporation to modernise the system of collection, pumping/uplifting and distribution of water in Shimla.

The High Court on Monday granted one more week to the Chief Secretary for filing his affidavit explaining therein that what steps had been taken by the state government/Municipal Corporation to modernise the system of collection, pumping/uplifting and distribution of water in Shimla.

The court passed this order at the request of the counsel for the state for granting more time to file affidavit.

During the course of hearing, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s affidavit was filed before the court and after perusing the same the court had taken it on record.

In its earlier order, the court had directed the Chief Secretary to inform the court about the action taken against those persons whose acts of omission and commission led to water crisis in the city. Apart from this, the court had also directed the Chief Secretary to inform the court that what remedial steps were taken by the state/Municipal Corporation regarding the leakage of water.

The court directed the Chief Secretary to file his affidavit within a week and listed the mater for further hearing on June 25.
