Kangra, March 17

The Kangra Municipal Council has introduced modern and automatic machines to find a lasting solution to garbage menace in the town.

With the introduction of power vacuum machines, roads and lanes of the town will be made dust free.

Kangra MC chief Ashok Sharma said the Urban Development Department, in collaboration with the State Pollution Control Board, had provided two types of modern machines under the PAPA scheme.

The cost of the dust removing machine was Rs12 lakh while the other machine that would remove garbage and dry leaves from roads, lanes and bylanes was worth Rs3 lakh.

He said such machines had been introduced for the first time in the town. A pressure pump was also attached to the machine to wash roads and lanes.

Sharma said the areas where these machines could not reach would be cleaned manually. The issue of waterlogging would also be solved. — OC
