Traffic affected on Lahaul-Pangi route

Mandi: A fresh spell of snow has affected normal life in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti and the Pangi region of Chamba district. Vehicular movement has been hampered on the Lahaul-Pangi route. In the Pangi valley, 25 routes of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation have been affected in last two days. Regional Manager, HRTC depot (Keylong) Mangal Chand Manepa said, “Due to fresh snowfall, roads have become slippery. Keeping in view the safety of people, the HRTC authorities have stopped the bus service in the Pangi valley and between Lahaul and Pangi until roads were safe for driving.” 

In the Lahaul valley, Internet service have been disrupted for the last 12 days as the optical fiber cable had got damaged near Marhi on the Manali-Leh highway.Heavy snow in the Jalori pass has cut off the Ani and Nirmand areas from the main district headquarters of  Kullu. Chhavinder Sharma, a resident of Ani, said the road had been blocked for the last four days. Residents demanded that the HRTC bus service be started via Mandi until the pass was restored to traffic.
