Una, February 8

Three members of a family, including two children, died in a road accident in the Tahliwal industrial area of Haroli subdivision on Friday.

Deceased Sanjeev Kumar (32), his 10-year-old son and two-year-old niece were killed, while Mamta (30), wife of Sanjeev’s brother, has been referred to the PGI in a serious condition. The victims were residents of Karampura village of Palkwah panchayat in Haroli.

The accident occurred when the driver of a truck, loaded with empty hydrogen cylinders, lost control over the vehicle, running over a two-wheeler driven by deceased Sanjeev Kumar. The vehicle later collided with some parked vehicles before ramming into roadside shops.

Haroli DSP Kulwinder Singh said the truck had unloaded the hydrogen gas from the cylinders at a local industrial unit and was returning when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a steep decline. He said seven other persons were injured, who were provided treatment at the Una district hospital.

The DSP said two cars and six two-wheelers, besides seven shops, were damaged. He said a case had been registered against the truck driver, who belonged to UP.
