Thakur directs depts to simplify rules for citizens

SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has directed all departments of the state to simplify rules and regulations and put in place a procedure for availing the benefits of schemes online so that people did not have to make the rounds of offices.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has directed all departments of the state to simplify rules and regulations and put in place a procedure for availing the benefits of schemes online so that people did not have to make the rounds of offices.

He was presiding over a meeting of senior officers of all departments held here on Wednesday regarding the implementation of budget assurance, to review the existing Acts, rules, regulations and schemes, their relevance and simplification. He also directed the Information Technology Department to develop a system to bring apps of all departments under one umbrella to facilitate people.

The Chief Minister directed the departments to review all existing parameters of schemes being implemented by them and bring the matter before the Cabinet with suggestions regarding the required simplification or changes in procedure.

Jai Ram Thakur said the state government was committed to facilitating citizens.

He stressed on the need to develop a parallel digital mechanism to create awareness among the masses up to the grassroots level. It would also help the people in settling their issues online.

He said all departments should encourage the people to use online services for the redressal of grievances, paying bills, obtaining revenue and other certificates besides submitting their applications for different purposes.
