Mandi, March 18
The dispute between the Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the local Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee over the takeover of the management of a gurdwara in Mandi is not yet settled. Tension cropped up today when SGPC members in a large number arrived at the gurdwara here which irked the local committee.
Bhagwant Singh, member of local committee, said the SGPC was trying to control the management of the gurdwara, which is being run by the local body. The dispute was in the court and judgment was still awaited.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mandi, Hitesh Lakhanpal said, “No violence was reported and we have deployed the police force to maintain law and order situation.”
