Stink makes life miserable

Sewage flowing between Bangla Mohalla and cremation ground emits foul smell, making it difficult for locals to cross the area. It can become a cause of various diseases. The Irrigation and Public Health Department should plug the leakage without any further delay. The authority concerned is aware of the problem. It’s time it woke up from its slumber. Driving uphill a nightmare 

Driving uphill is a headache for commuters as the ongoing Parwanoo-Solan four-laning has turned the road into a death trap. Boulders keep falling, some people lack driving sense, there are no proper lights and trees can fall anytime. It’s risky at night with no lightning system, glaring head lights and poor visibility. The highway may soon turn into a road to hell if action is not taken immediately. Bhavani Sundaram, Dharampur

Challaning not a solution

Solan lacks adequate parking space for commuters, especially those coming from other places. A large number of people visit the town for their works. Most park vehicles along roads. Lately, the police have gone into challaning overdrive. To avoid hefty fines, commuters have started parking vehicles outside the town now. They take a cab or an auto to enter the town and visit government offices. The government doesn’t provide parking facility, charges road tax and imposes heavy fines. No bridge over rivulet

Due to the absence of a bridge over the local rivulet at Sandhol under the Dharampur Assembly segment of Mandi district, residents are facing a great inconvenience. For long, they have been demanding a bridge to get better road connectivity at Sandhol. IPH Minister Mahender Singh Thakur, who represents Dharampur, should look into the matter and get funds approved for the project. Pramod Kumar, Mandi
