The BJP has worked for providing social security to the people of the country during the last five years. Vipin Parmar, minister for health, Himachal, and in charge of Kangra parliamentary constituency for the BJP, said this while talking to The Tribune today.

Parmar said it was for the first time that a government has worked to provide social security to all sections of the society, including farmers, employees and senior citizens. For farmers the union government has launched a scheme to provide financial grant of Rs 6,000 per acre. It is for the first time that direct financial benefit was being provided to the farmers of the country. It would cover the input costs of the farmers and would provide them social security.

An insurance scheme has also been launched for small farmers after they attain the age of 60 years.

For employees, Atal Bima Yojna has been initiated under which the employees of even the private sector can get pension up to Rs 5,000 per month by giving a premium of just Rs 200 per month.

The Ayushman Bharat Scheme has been launched under which about 50 crore people would be provided an insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh. This is biggest health scheme in the world and in Himachal alone 12 lakh people would be stand to benefit, said Parmar.

He said that the BJP government in Himachal had also reduced the age of old age pension from 80 to 70 years. This will be a big relief to all senior citizens in Himachal who do not have any other source of income.

Parmar said the BJP government at the Centre had taken decisions on the issues on which earlier governments had been dithering since long. The one rank, one pension scheme was fulfilled by the Modi government, he said.
