Soldier’s body arrives at Lahaul-Spiti village

The body of JCO Rigzin Dorje (41) of the Dogra Scout, who died in an avalanche in Kargil district, has reached his native village at Chicham in Lahaul-Spiti on Thursday. On Tuesday night, the district administration was informed about the incident by the Army.

On Thursday, the body of the soldier was flown from Jammu and Kashmir to Spiti in a helicopter. The body was received by the district administration at Kaza from where it was transported in a vehicle to Chicham. Vikram Singh Negi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kaza, told The Tribune that the cremation of the soldier would be conducted on Friday. — TNS
