Snow, rain to lash state over next 48 hours

The local Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory regarding the blockage of roads and landslides due to snow and rain in the the higher reaches of the state during the next 48 hours.

The cold wave conditions in the state intensified with a steep fall in the temperature and higher reaches in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba receiving fresh snowfall.

As per the weather forecast, the high and middle hills of the state, including the districts of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla could be lashed by snow and rainfall during the next 24 hours. The middle and low hills in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur could be lashed by light to moderate rain.

There is also forecast of rain and snow over the state on December 12 following which dry weather conditions were expected to prevail.

The change in weather conditions is a result of the Western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over North Pakistan and neighbouring area. 

An induced cyclonic circulation lies over central Pakistan and adjoining Western Rajasthan.

The minimum temperature in Shimla  was recorded at  3.9 degrees while maximum was 13.9 degrees.  The minimum temperatures was  2.5 degrees  in Sundernagar, minus 2.0 degrees in Kalpa,  minus 4.7degrees  in Keylong, minus 0.6 degrees  in Manali, 1.9 degrees in Bhuntar, 6.8 degrees in Dharamsala, 4.2 degrees in Mandi, 5.8 degrees in Bilaspur, 6.1 degrees in Hamirpur, 5.7 degrees in Chamba, 2.7 degrees in Dalhousie and 6.4 degrees in Jubbarhatti.
