Snow, rain revive chill in state

Shimla: Severe cold wave conditions revived in most parts of Himachal as lower and mid hills were lashed by thunderstorm and rain while tribal areas and higher reaches had another spell of moderate snowfall.

Shimla: Severe cold wave conditions revived in most parts of Himachal as lower and mid hills were lashed by thunderstorm and rain while tribal areas and higher reaches had another spell of moderate snowfall. Shimla and surrounding areas were lashed by thunderstorm, accompanied by intermittent rain while high-altitude tribal areas and other higher reaches received a fresh snowfall.

  • Rohtang Pass received 10 cm of snow while Kalpa and Keylong recorded 5 cm and 3 cm of snow while Kalpa also received 7 mm of rain. Bhuntar was the wettest with 9.2 mm rain, followed by Kufri 8 mm, Shimla and Manali 5 mm and Sundernagar 2 mm.

  • The maximum temperature dropped by a few notches and Una and Nahan recorded a high of 22.2 degree and 21.5 degree, followed by Palampur 20.8 degree, Dharamsala 18.8 degree, Sundernagar 18.1 degree, Solan 16.0 degree, Shimla 13 degree, Keylong 3.5 degree and Kalpa 3.2 degree C.

  • However, the minimum temperature remained steady and stayed close to normal. The local MeT office has predicted dry weather from tomorrow. —TNS
