Shooting Championship kicks off

The three-day Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Shooting (Men and Women) Championship began at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Shimla on Monday.

The three-day Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Shooting (Men and Women) Championship began at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Shimla on Monday. First Arjuna awardee of the state and former sports director Suman Rawat was the chief guest. She exhorted students to be disciplined and stay away from drugs. As many as 15 colleges are participating in the event.

DAV-Manali shine in volleyball meet

Students of DAV, Manali, once again created history in the DAV National Sports-2019 State-Level Tournaments held at DAV, Dharlaghat, and Shimla, respectively. In volleyball, the team lifted the trophy for the fourth consecutive year. In boxing, Ujjwal Bodh bagged a gold medal and Aryan Sherpa and Aman Sharma bronze medals. Principal RS Rana exhorted the winners to put in efforts to bring good results.

Convention on stress management

A convention was organised by the Baal Manch on stress management, time management and smart studies at Bachat Bhawan. ADC, Shimla, Apoorv Devgan was the chief guest, while director, medical colleges, HP, Dr Ravi Sharma was the guest of honour. Neelam Bali (psychologist) was the guest speaker. Schools and colleges in attendance were Auckland House School, Portmore, Monal, Laureate Public School, St Bede’s College and Shivalik Nursing College. The event was supported by the Shimla DC and sponsored by the HGVS, North Zone Insurance Employee Association (NZIEA).

DAV-New Shimla basketball champs

The two-day DAV National Sports State-Level Basketball Tournament was organised at DAV, Bharoli, Kangra. Regional Transport Officer, Dharamsala, Major Vishal Sharma was the chief guest.  As many as 15 teams participated in the tournament. The girls’ team of DAV, New Shimla, emerged the winners, followed by DAV, Solan. Boys of DAV, New Shimla, lifted the trophy, while Dayanand Public School, Shimla, won the runners-up trophy. Principal, DAV, Bharoli, Surjeet Kumar Rana thanked the chief guest and other dignitaries.
