Shimla, November 18

Candidates not passing their middle and high school examination from schools situated in Himachal Pradesh would now onwards be ineligible for Class IV government jobs. The same eligibility criteria of matric and 10+2 will apply to Class III employment.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today. The decision is expected to benefit youth having received their school education within the state. It, however, would render ineligible Himachalis studying outside the state.

In other decisions, the Cabinet approved notifying a scheme for providing 75 per cent grant to artisans living below poverty line to purchase equipment worth Rs 30,000.

It also decided to hold a function on the completion of two years of the state government on the Ridge on December 27. The occasion would also mark as ground-breaking ceremony for starting various projects for which MoUs were recently signed.

The Cabinet decided to urge the Centre to upgrade Paprola ayurvedic college to All India Institute of Ayurveda and set up a similar institute of homoeopathy in the state. — TNS
