Rs 23-cr ADB projects to boost tourism in Kangra

KANGRA:To boost tourism, the Asian Development Bank has taken up the Rs 23-crore “Infrastructure development investment programme”, which is to be completed by the end of this year.

To boost tourism, the Asian Development Bank has taken up the Rs 23-crore “Infrastructure development investment programme”, which is to be completed by the end of this year. 

Projects include an amusement park at  Mata Kaa Bagh, development of  Chamunda Devi  temple and  setting  up of  an art and craft  cultural centre at  Rajiana in Nagrota Bagwan. 

Dharminder  Kumar Sharma, in-charge of the project, said under the programme, interlocking tiles would be laid in Kangra town from Tehsil Chowk through the main bazaar  up to the gate of Bajjreshwari temple. He said work on laying  tiles in Donga Bazar was in progress. 

Work on the Rs 2.5-crore “Mata ka Bagh” project was in progress and was scheduled to be completed  before Diwali this year.  He said a park, coffee shop, amphitheatre,  water body with fountains, two toilet blocks, car parking and shopping complex would be major attractions.  

He said the project was spread over 5,000 sq m  and cafeteria, toilet blocks, amphitheatre  and car parking pavements had been completed. “Projects are being executed by MCC Power Projects Pvt Ltd,” Sharma said.
