Shimla, July 27

Residents of Tali-Shilgri, the native village of the rape victim, have pleaded with the state government to improve the condition of the 3-km long Tali-Shilgri link road which is connected to Sainj.

The government has upgraded the local government middle school to the senior secondary school.

“We welcome the initiative as it has given a relief to the children of the surrounding villages. But the condition of the link road is pathetic and it gets blocked in rains,” said the villagers.

If somebody fell sick, he or she had to be lifted as the road was not accessible to ambulance or other vehicles, they rued.

Even a team of officials, led by the DC, Shimla, and SP got stuck in the mud on the road and it took them more than an hour to reach the village last week, they pointed out.

Convener, Gudia Nyay Manch, Sharda Damset said the manch would fight for justice to the victim, but the development of the areas, which lack basic facilities of proper road link, health and school, should be government’s priority.
