Days after a minor was raped and murdered in Kotkhai, Himachal BJP president Satpal Singh Satti today said the Congress had lost morality to continue in the office.

He said people’s anger was proof that they had lost confidence in the government and the police. He alleged that efforts were being made to shield the accused in the case. “If Virbhadra Singh does not resign by July 26, the BJP will burn his effigies throughout the state at more than 7,500 places and launch protests,” he said.

BJP state in-charge Mangal Pandey today met party workers of Una district to understand local political issues in the run-up to the elections.

“Soon, the state BJP will undertake mass contact programmes at the grassroots level to inform people about the policies and programmes of the NDA government and the failures of the Congress government in the state,” he said.

He said the party had already started mass campaigns among the Dalit community, who were being informed about the welfare schemes introduced in their favour by the NDA government. He said the party would observe Kargil Vijay Divas on July 26 at various places and pay tribute to the martyrs.
