Quality education top priority: Minister

KANGRA: The state government has taken several steps to impart quality education to students of government schools and a budget of Rs 7,044 crore has also been earmarked for the education sector.

The state government has taken several steps to impart quality education to students of government schools and a budget of Rs 7,044 crore has also been earmarked for the education sector.

This was stated by Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary while addressing a gathering during the annual function of Govt Senior Secondary School, at Rehloo, in Shahpur constituency on Friday.

The minister said several new projects had been initiated in the state to improve education standards. She advised the students to stay away from drugs.

The minister said under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, work was underway on a stretch between Rehloo and Borhusarna and it would be completed by April this year.

She said the construction of a two-room structure on the school premises would be completed by the next month.

The minister said under the CM Gram Sadak Yojana, the Baldhi road would be built. An NoC from the Forest Department would soon be obtained for the purpose.

She announced Rs 2.50 lakh for the surrounding wall of the school, Rs 1.50 lakh for the stage and Rs 8,000 for those who participated in the cultural programme.

Principal Kulbushan read out the annual report.

Later, students were honoured for excelling in various fields.
