The police on Tuesday arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who had duped two youths on job pretext. Chamal Lal was nabbed from Machhiyal in Jogindernagar.

He was produced before a local court, which sent him to three-day police custody.

Chamba SP Dr Monika Bhutungru said on the complaint of two youths Rakesh Kumar and Mahender Singh, residents of Kuleth in Holi, a case had been registered against the PO, who had taken Rs 3 lakh from Rakesh and Rs 4 lakh from Mahender, promising them jobs in the Police Department. When the youths asked Chaman Lal to return their money, he gave them cheques, which were dishonoured by the bank. — OC
