Residents of many areas of the Sundernagar town had to face power cut for nearly three hours due to a fault in the MCB (circuit breaker) installed in Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) subdivision, Bhojpur, here today.

As per the information available, a part of the MCB panel installed in the office premises of HPSEB subdivision was burnt due to overloading leading to power supply failure in half of the town this morning.

It took the board about three hours to restore the power supply.

It was further told that such types of incidents were frequent and used to occur due to poor quality of parts supplied by the firm about which higher officials of the HPSEB had been apprised.

The MCB panel was installed a few months ago but it had startedgiving trouble due to its poor quality.

The field staff saidthey had only made a stopgap arrangement.

When contacted Gulab Chand Sandil, Executive Engineer, HPSEB, Sundernagar Division, said the power supply had been restored and there was no need to worry as necessary repairs had already been carried out.
