Solan, August 13

Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar today said political aspirations were the reason behind the factional feud in Kangra district.

Bickering among various factions in Kangra had embarrassed the government ahead of the byelection where the party prospects could suffer.  Shanta, who was addressing mediapersons here,  said the internal feud  was unfortunate and should not have happened. Mincing no words, he said politics had been reduced to fulfilling personal aspirations while a sense of service had taken a backseat.

Reacting on the leadership crisis faced by the Congress, he said a young leader should be given a chance to lead the party and they should come out of the clutches of a single family.  They had experienced and seasoned politicians like  Dr Karan Singh  and Pranab Mukherjee, who could revive the party. — TNS
