On way to Bilji Mahadev, pilgrim dies in accident

One woman was killed and two persons were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in fell down into a gorge on the Kullu-Bijli Mahadev road near Kotadhar in Kullu district. The deceased has been identified as Tanuja (45), a native of Barmana in Bilaspur district. The injured Vijay Kumar (24) and Chetna Thakur (28), also natives of Barmana, were rushed to regional hospital, Kullu, for medical treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.

According to police, eight persons were on board the vehicle, including driver. They were moving towards Bijli Mahadev to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva. The road was muddy due to which the driver was facing difficulty in driving. As a result, at one point at Kotadhar five persons got down from the vehicle to push it ahead, while three people were on board. Driver failed to control the vehicle, which skidded off from the road going deep into gorge. — TNS
