Mandi, December 3

To provide the better marketing facility to natural farming products in Mandi district, the district administration has opened a sale centre ‘Ajivika Vikray Kendra’ in the Indira Market complex, Mandi.

The district administration’s move is aimed at collecting natural farming products from farmers of the district at this sale centre. These eatables, such as vegetables, fruits and grains, will be free of any kind of chemical manure. Only cow dung and cow urine is used in natural farming to produce healthy products.

DC Rugved Thakur inaugurated the sale centre and said it would play a crucial role in providing better marketing facility to the farmers of the district. Residents can avail the products for domestic use and farmers would get a good price, serving two purposes.

He said the state government was focusing on zero-budget farming in state to produce healthy products and enhance the economy of farmers. It is the second such sale centre in the state. Earlier, a sale centre was opened in Shimla district.

The DC said with the efforts of the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, about 3,770 farmers were engaged in natural farming in Mandi district. They covered 262 hectares under natural farming.

Also, products produced by self-help groups will be sold at the sale centre in the coming days. There are 762 self-help groups in Mandi district, engaged in production of products for sale to sustain their economy, Thakur added.
