Notice to MD on KCCB ex-chairman’s plea

SHIMLA: The HP High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Secretary (Co-operation); Registrar, HP State Cooperative Societies, RN Batta; and Managing Director of the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank (KCCB) PC Akela on the petition filed by the former chairman of the KCCB, Jagdish Chand Sephiya against the decision of the Registrar, Cooperative Society, whereby it had dissolved the Board of Directors on April 6.

The HP High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Secretary (Co-operation); Registrar, HP State Cooperative Societies, RN Batta; and Managing Director of the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank (KCCB) PC Akela on the petition filed by the former chairman of the KCCB, Jagdish Chand Sephiya against the decision of the Registrar, Cooperative Society, whereby it had dissolved the Board of Directors on April 6.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma further directed the respondents to file their replies within two weeks.

On April 6 the Registrar, Co-operative Society, dissolved the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank (KCCB), Dharamsala, on the basis of alleged irregularities in granting loans.

Following the dissolution of the board, Jagdish Sephiya will also cease to hold his post. In this petition. The court listed the matter for further hearing on May 10. — OC
