Noida Amity students explore construction tech at Pragpur

As part of a nine-day educational tour, a team from Amity University, Noida, studied the construction technology used at Pragpur, a proclaimed heritage village in Dehra subdivision. The team comprised 37 students and four faculty members from the university’s school of architecture and planning.

The objective was to do an extensive ‘measure drawing’ excercise to understand the construction technology locally applied in the area and bring the students close to architecture and drawings of the village. 

The team was led by Shagun Agrawal. Other faculty members were Bhuvan Mitra, Richa Kushwaha and Deepak Das.

The  students learnt about the making of traditional houses and many other nitty-gritty. Also, a documentary on various facets of a building design is being made.

Shagun said interaction with the locals gave them an insight into their lifestyle and culture. Students also presented ‘nukkad nataks’ on the themes of ‘cleanliness’ and ‘women empowerment’ at local schools.

The students got to know about the options in higher education, she added.

The team expressed gratitude to the villagers for the love and support. The students were happy with the exposure they had got here.
