Shimla, May 22

Government degree colleges, Sanskrit colleges and grant-in-aid colleges will have 68-day vacations, besides Sundays and other gazetted holidays while the regular teaching days will be 100 to107 days.

The vacations are staggered and, besides 36-day winter and 26-day summer vacations, there will be six-day Diwali break as per vacations, admissions and examination schedule for 2019-20 notified by the government.

The regular teaching days will be 107 from July 1 to October 15 for the first and second-year and fifth semester students. The admissions to second year and fifth semester will start without waiting for the declaration of results of first year and fourth semester. There will be no admission after June. Principals will be held responsible for any violation of norms.

The regular teaching days will be 100 for the sixth semester in two phases from November 15 to December 12 (36 days) and February 6 to April 10 (64 days) and house examinations for first and second year will be held in October, before the Diwali break.

The winter vacations will start from January 1 to February 5 (30 days), summer vacations from May 22 to June 16 (26 days) and Diwali break from October 25 to October 30 (6 days).

Seven days have been marked for submitting the admission forms (June 18 to June 24).

The merit list will be displayed on June 25 and 26 and the fee will have to be deposited within three days by June 29.

The decision to revert to the annual system has resulted in the longer examination schedule as different dates have marked for examinations and evaluation under two systems.

The exam of VI semester will be held from April 11 to May 10 followed by evaluation from May 11 to May 21, 2020, for the early declaration of the final results.

The practical and theory examinations of V semester will be held from October 16 to 24 and November 14 while evaluation will be completed by December 31.

The annual examinations of I and II years will be held from March 15 to April 10, 2020, and evaluation will be done from May 1, the notification said.
