  • The district administration demolished nine illegal shops following the directions of the SC here on Wednesday.
  • It was learnt that the building housing shops was constructed on the land of one Narender Singh, which was disputed. The case to get its possession was initiated in 1988 and it took over 30 years to get the land vacated.
  • The decision of the court was announced in 2016, but the encroachment could not be removed and complainant had to seek police protection to take the possession and dismantle the construction.
  • SP Raman Kumar Meena said the police protection was provided to ensure peaceful removal of encroachers from the site. OC
