Ways to improve teaching discussed

Dr Parvinder Kaushal, Vice-Chancellor, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni,  held a meeting with the UHF Teachers’ Association (UHFTA) to discuss ways to improve teaching and learning and address grievances of the faculty. The association was represented by its president Dr KD Sharma, vice-president Dr Ramesh Bhardwaj, counsellor Dr Amit Vikram, treasurer Dr Naveen Chand Sharma and secretary Dr Subhash Sharma. During the meeting, the association raised issues regarding teaching and research and the grievances of the teaching fraternity. The association members also gave several suggestions. Dr Kaushal thanked the association for their initiative and suggestions. He said the university would address the issues raised by them so that the university could progress in academic, research and extension activities. Dr Kaushal sought the association’s support to take the university to greater heights and competing with global universities.  

Talk on water conservation  

Under the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Scheme of the Union Government-sponsored Jal Shakti Campaign, a workshop was organised at Government Postgraduate College, Una. Water conservation specialist Prof Satya Dev Bhardwaj deliberated on the needs and methods of water conservation by giving an example of Singapore, where the government and the people undertook a massive campaign to emerge out of a water scarce country and become a water secure country. Declamation and painting competitions were also organised. 

General house at Auckland House

A general house was held at the Auckland House School for Boys to elect the Parent-Teacher Association, which will help in better coordination and interaction between parents, teachers and management to improve the facilities and academic standards of the school. An executive committee was constituted with Michael A John being elected its chairman, Rajneesh Mandhotra president, Dr Preeti R Nagpal vice-president, Dr Mala Kuthiala secretary, Anjana Janartha treasurer, Sughandha Sood adviser. Besides, two special nominees — Avtar Singh and Rajneesh Kaith were elected. The parents, who were elected as representatives of students from nursery to Class XII include Shikha Sharma, Gagan Lakhanpal, Anu Bala Zinta, Parvesh Kumar Sharma, Dr Arti Sareen, Praksh Singh Rawat, Vijendra Mehra, Mehboob Ali Khan, Deepak Sood, MR Sareen and Deepika Dhiman.
