A truck driver was assaulted by a group of five masked men in Bankhandi area, Una, last evening. The victim has been identified as Succha Singh, a resident of Samoor Kalan village here.

He reported the matter at the Pandoga police post. In his complaint, he said he was transporting forest wood from the district to Hoshiarpur in Punjab and it was at midnight when he entered Bankhandi. After a few kilometers he saw the masked men, who were on their motorcycles. They hurled stones at the truck, breaking the windshield and damaging other parts of the vehicle. However, he immediately reversed the truck and sped away towards the district.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way. — OC
