The government is preparing a master plan having provisions for encouraging private investors to develop new tourist destinations in the state.

According to the press release issued here today, the government is also encouraging home stays, which will not only promote tourism, but also provide jobs.

Keeping in view the rise in tourist footfall on weekends, water lifting has also been increased to 55-60 MLD so that the visitors get adequate water.

The government has developed facilities at Nature Park in Craignano, Mashobra, Naldehra, Fagu, Kufri, Chail. The tourists now have more options to spend extra days in the town. The tourists also enjoy the nature walking trail amid cool weather at Mashobra, Naldehra and Chail.

A new lift with an additional capacity connecting Cart Road with the Mall has been installed.

The police have also been deployed at prominent places to guide the tourists and there is a new parking lot, which can accommodate over 1,000 vehicles.

Apart from regular flights between Delhi, Shimla, Kullu and Dharamsala, a helicopter under UDAN scheme from Chandigarh to Shimla and Shimla to Kullu and Dharamsala has been pressed into service.

The government is also making efforts to establish an international airport at Nagchala in Mandi district.
