UNA, May 14

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today addressed five election meetings, one each in the five Assembly segments of the district in favour of BJP’s Hamirpur candidate Anurag Thakur. He addressed meetings at Gondpur Banehda in Gagret segment, Amb in Chintpurni, Basal in Kutlehar, Ghaluwal in Haroli and Sanoli Majara in Una segments.

Addressing the gatherings, the Chief Minister said during the last five years, the Narendra Modi government has laid a strong foundation for the development of the country and the people of the country have made their mind to allow the same government to continue with its development plans.

He said the policies and programmes of the Narendra Modi government initiated for the welfare of various sections of the society have benefited the masses immensely. He enumerated Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala, Jan Dhan and start up schemes, besides the others, initiated for the welfare of the people.

Jai Ram claimed that the Congress and the UPA regimes failed to address terrorism, but the Narendra Modi government took historic decision to strike at its roots.

Taking on Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri on his home turf in Haroli, Thakur said Agnihotri did not have the support of a single Congress MLA and he was elected leader of the Congress Legislative Party with the blessings of former CM Virbhadra Singh.

You are CM by accident, says Agnihotri

Reacting sharply to CM’s remarks that he was made CLP leader with the blessings of former CM Virbhadra Singh, Mukesh Agnihotri replied that the CM had made public the pain in his heart. He said even if Jai Ram’s remark that not a single Congress MLA supported him for the post of CLP leader, was true, he should not forget that he too was a “CM by accident”. Agnihotri said former CM was instrumental in having him elected as the CLP leader, but Jai Ram should know that not a single BJP MLA wanted to see him Chief Minister.
