BJP candidate from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur today said the Congress was contesting the elections on the minimum number of seats and was claiming to form its government at the Centre.

Addressing mediapersons at Chintpurni, the BJP leader said in the 2014 general elections, the Congress had been confined to 44 seats, while this time, the situation within the party was so bad that leaders who were offered tickets to contest the elections were lobbying with the party high command to keep them away from the elections and give ticket to some other candidate.

Anurag said during the last five years, the BJP had given a corruption-free government, adding that social welfare activities and development had also been high on the government’s agenda.

He said the country had received international recognition, besides being recognised as a global military power.
