UNA, April 17

The Una office of Election Department on Wednesday began dispatching postal ballot papers to voters from the district serving in military and para military forces and deployed in different parts of the country.

Rakesh Prajapati, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, said there were 6,662 service voters from Una district, whose postal ballot papers, along with return envelopes, were being dispatched to their commanding officers through their respective record offices.

Prajapati said the nomination process was yet to begin in Himachal Pradesh and that after the procedure was completed, the commanding officers would have to log in into the Election Commission website through a password. The service voters would then receive an electronically transmitted ballot paper and a one-time password on their mobile phones.

The DC said the service voter would have to pen down the name of the candidate of his or her choice on the postal ballot paper and send it back to the assistant returning officer concerned in the sealed envelope, which has also been dispatched along with the postal ballot. Once received at the district election office, the postal ballot papers would be counted on the date of counting of votes, he added.
