Martyr’s wife gets Rs 5 lakh from Big B

Jawali resident Savitri Devi, widow of Tilak Raj, one of the CRPF jawans killed in the Pulwama attack, has received a cheque for Rs 5 lakh from Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, as announced by him at a “samman programme” in Mumbai last week. 

Savitri Devi, who was invited to the event along with her mother-in-law and son, could not make it. Their flight was delayed. She later received the cheque from Bachchan’s office. Tilak Raj, 30, was injured in the Pulwama attack on February 14 in which more than 40 jawans were killed. His wife has been given a government job as a clerk in the nearby Haarchakyan sub-tehsil office.
