Mandi, August 24

Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur said Mandi would be among top 100 clean cities of India by 2020. The DC convened a meeting with the Municipal Council and asked officials to make proper arrangements for garbage disposal.

The entire area should be clean, including nullahs, rivulets and rivers. There should be no open defecation.

Rugved asked the MC to ensure proper segregation of solid and liquid waste at the household level. “We have set a target to bring Mandi among the top 100 cities of India, for which collective efforts will be made. Public representatives will be asked to lead an awareness campaign among masses,” he said.

As per a survey conducted earlier, Mandi was at the 806th spot. Suman Thakur, president, Municipal Council, Mandi, said the civic body was struggling hard to keep the MC clean. Awareness campaigns would be launched and locals would be asked to join the drive.
