The HRTC bus service between Manali and Keylong on the Manali-Leh highway via Rohtang Pass has been suspended as 13,050 feet high Rohtang Pass received a fresh snowfall.

Mangal Chand Manepa, Regional Manager, HRTC depot at Keylong, said keeping in view the snowfall in the valley and the Rohtang Pass, all crew members of buses had been directed to avoid plying buses between Manali and Keylong.

The buses that had reached Marhi, Gulaba and Koksar have been directed to reach Manali or Keylong. All ‘adda’ in-charges of Keylong unit have been directed to keep cooperation with the members to ensure safety of passengers as well as buses.

The decision has been taken in view of public safety. However, people of the tribal district of Lahaul Spiti will have to face difficulty in transportation in moving in and out of the district till the weather improves, enabling resumption of the bus service.

In the wake of warning about bad weather from the Meteorological Department, the district administration, Kullu, has issued an advisory for tourists visiting Kullu-Manali to avoid venturing to the high-altitude areas for tracking or any other activity till May 11.
