Man booked for rape on pretext of marriage

NURPUR: A resident of Tikker village in Panjara gram panchayat has been booked for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman of a nearby village on the pretext of marriage.

A resident of Tikker village in Panjara gram panchayat has been booked for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman of a nearby village on the pretext of marriage.

The police said the accused, Shubh Kaushal, had lured the victim with the promise of marrying her and took her to a hotel where he allegedly raped her.

The victim alleged that after raping her, Kaushal dropped her at her village and later switched off his mobile to avoid her repeated calls. She said when she confronted Kaushal’s father, the latter allegedly intimidated her.

Nurpur DSP Sahil Arora said a case under sections 366, 376, 506 and 34 of the IPC had been registered against Kaushal and his father.
