Loreto Convent students march against increase in rape cases

Students of Loreto Convent, Tara Hall, on Monday organised a silent protest march against the increasing number of rape cases and other crime against women.

The students were also joined by parents in registering their protest against the insecure environment for girls and women.

More than 600 students from classes VIII to XII, along with the Principal, Sister Stephanie Rodrigues, teachers and other staff members, participated in the march.

Later, the students walked down to St Michael’s Cathedral, where they lit candles around the grotto of Mother Mary, who is the patron of Loreto Congregation. A prayer service was also conducted to seek justice for the families of the victims.
