Liquid nitrogen plant opened in Mandi

MANDI: Rural Development Minister Anil Sharma today inaugurated a liquid nitrogen plant and semen bank, constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore under the Himachal Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project at Khaliyar in Mandi.

Rural Development Minister Anil Sharma today inaugurated a liquid nitrogen plant and semen bank, constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore under the Himachal Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project at Khaliyar in Mandi.

The minister said now the Animal Husbandry Department need not buy liquid nitrogen from outside. He said earlier the authorities were spending Rs 1.5 crore monthly for its purchase.

He said this plant would produce 16,000 litre of liquid nitrogen per month for the use of semen bank. He added that in place of local and jarsi cow, the department was now promoting red singhvi and sahewal cow and vaccine was provided across the state. He said the latest species cow gave more milk at a lower cost which would strengthen their economy.

Later, he laid the foundation stone of Panchayat Bhavan to be constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh at Gram Panchayat Badi-Gumanu. He said all panchayats of the Sadar constituency were provided basic facilities such as drinking water, road connectivity, health and educational institutions.
