Landslides cut off Pangi from Lahaul

MANDI:Pangi region of Chamba district has been cut off from the tribal district Lahaul and Spiti for the past three days as massive landslides have occurred at five places on the Udaipur-Killar road, which connect the both districts.

Pangi region of Chamba district has been cut off from the tribal district Lahaul and Spiti for the past three days as massive landslides have occurred at five places on the Udaipur-Killar road, which connect the both districts.

The landslides have badly damaged two bridges, which require immediate maintenance work to restore normal traffic. Karu Nullah bridge got badly damaged, while Kucher bridge is also unfit for heavy vehicles. This is the main route used by the people of the Pangi region to move between Kullu and Chamba district also. A large number of people from Pangi region are working in Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts.

Resident Commissioner of Pangi Rohit Rathor said, “The road has been blocked because of massive landslides at five places. It has been rendered unsafe for travelling. Two bridges that collapsed require proper maintenance. We have also informed the BRO for further action.”
