Mandi, July 5

Senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur has targeted Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur over development issue by saying that he is playing politics of regionalism even in his own home district at Mandi.

He said that the Chief Minister is putting people of Himachal under heavy debt as he is taking loan of Rs 500 crore every month since he took charge in state. In more than six months period he has failed to bring even a single big development project for Mandi district. The people of district have high expectations from him.

“Health services have deteriorated in rural areas because the state government had shifted health staff from rural to urban areas. Due to that people living in villages are suffering and had failed to avail better health services”, he added.

He said that the BJP was trying to befool the people of the district on development issues and taking credit of those works, which were done during the Congress regime. He said that medical university was inaugurated during the Congress regime. Similarly, three medical colleges were approved for the state out of which one was in Hamirpur district.

Kaul Singh stated that the nine month ago Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) at Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh but since then there has been no progress in the project.

He said the Congress would defeat the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and on state Congress in charge Rajni Patil will visit Mandi July 10 to chalk out a strategy over it.
