Solan, May 3

The police on Thursday arrested Vijay Singh, the owner of Kasauli guest house who allegedly shot a woman officer, from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

A Solan police team led by an SHO, who was coordinating with the Delhi police, managed to nab Singh from Mathura in a joint operation. A police official confirmed the arrest.

Assistant Town and Country Planner Shail Bala Sharma had on May 1 gone to supervise the demolition of unauthorised construction at Kasauli's Narayani guest house where its owner Vijay Singh had allegedly shot at her.

She later succumbed to injuries, while another government official accompanying her had sustained serious injuries.

The four teams, which had been constituted to nab the guest house owner, collected various information, including his frequent telephonic conversations with some people from various places.

The accused did not use his cell phone and it was found switched off. He had shaved off his moustache and was sporting a thin crop of hair to conceal his identity. He is being brought to Solan.

Vijay Singh had bought new set of clothes and was found sitting in a temple by a three-member police team led by the Kasauli SHO.

The team was working under the directions of SIT head Additional SP Shiv Kumar who tracked Singh's movements and directed the team to trace him in Mathura.

Meanwhile, the state government has transferred Solan SP Mohit Chawla and Parwanoo DSP Ramesh Sharma to police headquarters following rap from the Supreme Court in inept handling of Kasauli demolition case.

Additional SP Shiv Kumar has been entrusted the task of SP, while Ajay Rana is the new Parwanoo DSP.
