Mandi, May 20

Several prototype projects designed by IIT-Mandi students were showcased during the intra-college technical festival ‘Aavishkar’ organised here today.

The projects included remote home automation, where a house owner can control lights, fans, lock or opening of the door from anywhere in the room, which will be operated by a mobile device.

For the comfort of farmers, students developed an automatic irrigation system. The sensors sense the water content in soil and automatically irrigate the soil.

To help dumb people in communication, students have developed Ishara, a device to which can covert their hand signals into audio signals.

They have also developed prototype projects like a landslide prediction system, a guiding stick for blind people, a robot that can draw and an automatic fire extinguisher.
