Shimla, February 17

There is good news for the youth aspiring to get jobs through the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) as it has decided to start one-time registration to save the applicants from the cumbersome process of applying for jobs time and again.

“In order to bring in transparency and simplify the process, the commission has decided to start one-time registration (OTR) and the applicants have to register themselves just once, said HPPSC Chairperson Major General Dharamvir Singh Rana (Retd).

The applicant will get a user name and password and will be informed about any vacancy matching his or her profile through SMS or e-mail and all he will require is to deposit a fee and get the admit card for appearing in examination, he said, addressing mediapersons here today.

Another initiative is starting online examination from April 15. The move will reduce the use of paper and time and the model started from Shimla will be replicated in all districts in a phased manner. There are about 11,000 terminals available with government colleges and private institutes where the exams could be conducted.

At present, the commission spends Rs 700-800 per candidate for conducting examination and the result is declared in 3-4 months. After online examination, the result will be declared in 7-10 days and the expenses will be reduced by 30-40 per cent, Rana said.

He said the new initiatives would also enable the students to check their answers with the answer key and a committee had been constituted to redress the grievances of the applicants in one day so that they do not have to approach the court or tribunal if they are not satisfied.
