Shimla, December 16

Devesh Kumar, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL), said on Sunday that the corporation commissioned 5-MW Berra Dol solar power plant — first commercial solar plan in the state sector — on December 7.

The plant will generate about 102 lakh units per annum and generate Rs 4.40-crore revenue for the state exchequer, he added.

Addressing the staff during celebration of the HPCL’s 12th raising day here, Kumar said the HPPCL has last year started commercial use for two of its hydroelectric projects — 65-MW Kashang stage-I and 100-MW Sainj project. These projects are earning revenue of Rs. 90.51 crore and Rs 176.25 crore, respectively.

He said the state government has allotted 22 hydroprojects to the HPPCL and corporation had drawn an exhaustive strategy to execute these projects in a phased manner, he added.

He said the Shongtong Karchham, Sawra Kuddu HEP and Kashang (Stage-II and III), which would account to 691 MW, were under construction. “In addition, the DPR of 10-MW solar power plant at Aghlor in Una will also be started soon,” he said.

Kumar said the HPPCL had received Rs 446.96 crore from the Central Government for the acquiring land for the Renukaji Dam project in October, 2016, and Rs 337.40 crores were given to affected families.

Devesh Kumar said: “The HPPCL has spent Rs 50.51 crore under relief activities for the welfare of project-affected families and Rs 53.42 crore for various development activities under the Land Area Development Fund.”

The HPPCL organised cultural events on the occasion.
