Vipin Singh Parmar, Health Minister, today said the state government had planned categorisation of all government hospitals in the state in order to extend the best possible health services to the public. He said ranking of the state hospitals would also be done under the new plan.
Talking to The Tribune here today, Parmar said a meeting of all medical officers had been convened by the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman at Shimla on October 19 to chalk out the line of action. He said the focus would be on creating best possible infrastructure in all the hospitals of the state.
Steps planned include filling of posts of medical officer, para medical staff and installation of equipment like X-Ray, ultra sound scanning, CT scan and MRI machines.
He said the state had already allocated Rs 50 crore for supply of medicines free of cost in the state hospitals. It was to be seen whether the 400 free medicines notified by the government were reaching the patients or not. Likewise, free medical test facilities would also be reviewed by taking feedback from the CMOs and other officers concerned.
The health minister stated that the Jai Ram Thakur government in the state was committed to extending social security cover to every citizen of the state.
He said the state government was working on plan to convert all primary health centres to ‘health wellness centres’. These centres would be equipped with qualified doctors and nursing staff.
He said the cases in which patients with petty ailments were referred to medical colleges and regional hospitals would also be looked into as such practice by doctors not only caused harassment to patients but also hindered smooth working of medical colleges and regional hospitals.
Parmar said best adjudged hospitals of the state would be given cash prizes, besides other facilities by the state government. He said there was no shortage of funds in the health departments and doctors should work hard to serve patients.
