Higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu receive snow

SHIMLA: Tourist destinations like Kalpa located on the high hills of Himachal Pradesh received snow on Friday, turning it even more picturesque. “The higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmaur districts experienced moderate snow. The weather will remain dry till December 9. Thereafter there are chances of widespread rain and snow in the state,” the weather bureau predicted.

Tourist destinations like Kalpa located on the high hills of Himachal Pradesh received snow on Friday, turning it even more picturesque.

“The higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmaur districts experienced moderate snow. The weather will remain dry till December 9. Thereafter there are chances of widespread rain and snow in the state,” the weather bureau predicted.

There is widespread snow expected in the state on December 10, a Met official said.

Members of the hospitality industry were waiting for tourists to arrive in Kalpa, some 250 km from here, in Kinnaur district, with news of the snow flashing.

Shimla and its nearby places like Kufri, Mashobra and Narkanda saw no precipitation, according to a Met official here. Manali, which saw a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius, experienced rain.

The minimum temperature here was 4.7 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 3.8 degrees in Kalpa and 7.2 degrees in Dharamsala.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest in the state with a low of minus 9.9 degrees Celsius. IANS
