Haryana Guv takes addl charge of Himachal

Haryana Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, who has been given the additional charge of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, was sworn in here on Tuesday.

Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Sanjay Karol administered the oath of office to Solanki at a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhawan. Lady Governor Rani Solanki and Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, who is also the Minister-in-waiting, were present on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor was accorded the Guard of Honour.

As Governor Acharya Devvrat is going abroad, Solanki would hold the additional charge till his return on August 2, sources in the Raj Bhawan said. Chief Secretary Vineet Chawdhry read out the warrant of appointment.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajiv Bindal, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Cabinet ministers Kishan Kapoor and Virender Kanwar, MLAs, Justice Sureshwar Thakur of the Himachal High Court, Vice Chancellors, DGP SR Mardi, Chairperson, State Commission for Women Daizy Thakur, secretaries, senior officers of the state government, other dignitaries and family members of the Governor were also present on the occasion.

“Himachal is a small but important state and getting additional charge of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh has added a new chapter in my life”, said the Governor on the sidelines of the function.
