Haryana girls defeated Gorakhpur in the ‘Chak De India’ Kabaddi league final match played at the local municipal stadium here on Saturday evening.

The match is being organised by the Indian Sports’ Development Board.

Haryana girls scored 45 points and defeated Gorakhpur by 2 points in the final match. Gorakhpur scored 43 points.

Four teams participated in the semi-finals and the first semi-final match was played between Maharashtra and Haryana.

Haryana scored 73 points and Maharashtra scored 42 points, thus helping Haryana enter the finals.

In another semi-final match, Gorakhpur defeated Himachal Tiger Team by a margin of 14 points. Gorakhpur scored 43 points and Himachal Tiger Team scored 29.

Sarween Chaudhary, Urban Development, Town and Country Planning Minister, was the chief guest on the occasion.

He distributed Rs 1.21 lakh to the Haryana team, Rs 71,000 to the Gorakhpur team for being second in the match, and Rs 31,000 to the Maharashtra team.

She said to encourage sports in the state Rs 6.80 crore was earmarked for the construction of sports grounds in each Assembly constituency.
