Governor Acharya Devvrat today urged investors in Parwanoo to work towards making their area a model in cleanliness and stressed the need to address the issue of solid waste management.

Addressing members of the Parwanoo Industries Association during a cleanliness drive organised by them, the Governor said the state offered bountiful beauty, but it had been besmirched by pollution. He said human beings were insensitive towards environment which was appalling despite being counted among the most intelligent creatures.

He lauded the efforts of the association in organising this programme and said the bordering areas of the state had witnessed rapid industrialisation. This had strengthened the state’s economy and the youth had secured employment opportunities.

He said the association’s cleanliness drive would inspire other industry associations in the state to undertake similar such drives in their respective areas. He said a permanent solution should be chalked out for processing the solid waste in Parwanoo and the action plan prepared by the administration should be given a practical shape soon. The local administration, municipal committee and the industry association should adopt a coordinated approach to solve this problem.

The Governor also honoured the investors who had done exemplary work.

He also participated in a cleanliness drive in Sector 1, 6, 4 and 5 areas of the town. He also started a “Clean Parwanoo Green Parwanoo” drive from the Rest House.
